S1: ARITHMETIC – Handed out letters for www.MyMaths.co.uk and www.SumDog.com and copied down the login details for www.MathsWorkout.co.uk.  We then did some multiplication questions.  Homework for Monday 27th August: Two Time Table.

2M2: ALGEBRA – Page 189, Ex22B – ques. 3, 5, 6.

3M5: WAGES – [MiA3] Page 147, 13.1A – ques. 1 to 4.

4M1: QUADRATIC PROBLEMS – Page 201, Ex19H – ques. 2(a, b, d), 3(a, c, e), 7.

23rd August 2018: Mr Willox’s classes

S1: ARITHMETIC – We discussed why Maths is so important and what to do if we are struggling with a task.  We practised some arithmetic questions (add, subtract and multiply).

2M2: ALGEBRA – We started looking at how to multiply out a single set of brackets e.g. 3(2n + 7) = 6n + 21.  Did some questions from www.MathsWorkout.co.uk.

3M5: WAGES – We discussed the different ways in which people can be paid (wages, salaries, piecework, commission, overtime, bonuses).  [MiA3] Page 147, 13.1A – ques. 1 to 4.

NAT5: SURDS & VOLUMES – Tried some “surds” and “volume” questions from the worksheet.

NAT5: ALGEBRA & VOLUMES – We started a worksheet revising indices (see Google Classroom).

21st August 2018: Mr Willox’s classes

S1: ARITHMETIC – We went over the expectations on pupils and the teacher and handed out equipment (jotters, textbooks and folders).  We looked at how to accurately perform addition and discussed place value.

2M2: ALGEBRA – We created expressions using b, s and t and evaluated them using b = 5, t = 7 and s = 3.

4M1: QUADRATICS – Revision of the work on quadratics work covered before summer.

NAT5: VOLUMES – Tried some “volume” questions taken from old SQA exams.

5th July 2018: Mr Willox’s classes

2M2: EQUATIONS – We created some equations for others to solve.  Rules:  1) There must be “letters” on both sides of the equals sign.  2) There must be “loose numbers” on both sides of the equals sign.  3) All “loose numbers” used in the equation must be between 1 and 30 inclusive.  4)  All coefficients must be between 1 and 10 inclusive.  5) The solution must be a whole number between 0 and 20 inclusive.

3M5: NUMERACY – Pupils either sat a National 3 Numeracy assessment on www.sqasolar.org or tried to get as many questions correct for the skills that were set on www.SumDog.com.

NAT5: ALGEBRA & VOLUMES – We competed against each other to try and solve the padlock challenges and win the sweets.

3M5: NUMERACY – We did a practice National 3 Numeracy assessment on www.sqasolar.org.uk.  Then tried to get as many questions correct for the skills that were set on www.SumDog.com.

4M1: QUADRATICS – We tried to finish off the 3 homework tasks on www.MyMaths.co.uk then did a couple of Quadratic Quizzes on https://kahoot.it/.

NAT5: VOLUMES – We worked through the end of topic test on Surds and Indices on http://scholar.hw.ac.uk/.
